Pleasant Valley

Pleasant Valley is one of Nanaimo's up and coming North End communities. Historically, Pleasant Valley was a mostly rural area within the city, but the area was developed around the 1980s so the homes are relatively more modern. Close to North End shopping and dining, and easy access to the Old Island Highway and Nanaimo Parkway makes this a great living option for commuters as well as families and retirees.

The Nanaimo real estate options in Pleasant Valley range from mobile home neighbourhoods to brand new residential subdivisions. The most notable feature in Pleasant Valley is Brannen Lake. In fact, most of the homes in this Nanaimo neighborhood were built in close proximity to the lake, which has a boat dock and a small public swimming area. Private boat access is one of the many benefits of living just steps from the water.

It should also be noted that some single-family neighbourhoods in Pleasant Valley are governed by an HOA, meaning monthly fees should be factored into your home purchase.

The neighborhood is also close to Uplands and Long Lake. Noise pollution can be an issue for some Pleasant Valley home owners, as traffic from the Nanaimo Parkway can be especially disruptive during peak hours. Make sure you inquire with your real estate agent to make sure you will not be adversely affected.

Pleasant Valley Amenities

Another great benefit for Pleasant Valley residents is its close proximity to three major shopping centres. The first, which is just north of the neighborhood, is the Woodgrove Centre and the second, which is just east, is the Nanaimo North Town Centre. Nearby Country Club Centre serves as a transportation hub, with buses serving most areas of town.
